HOW I WORK

I help you discover your key productive strengths and talents as a leader and how to skillfully navigate the politics of a large organizational system to make a bigger impact.

Here’s what you can expect when you work with me
Since 1996, I’ve been working with leaders to help them tap their natural strengths and transform their organizations. Working with me gives you a trusted advisor who is trained to listen to you in a way very different from your friends and family. You can expect to gain insights and shift your personal and professional life faster than you might imagine. You will have an ally who holds you to your vision so that you get traction and see results.

I have a reputation for providing powerful leadership development coaching to leaders who are already considered successful. My process includes:

Design and Buy-In - An initial discussion to define the specific outcomes most beneficial to the leader and their organization. We identify the top one or two key challenges the leader is dealing with in his or her organization and what will define success from the coaching process.

Assessment - The implementation and evaluation of any assessments (360, MBTI, EQI, etc.) or other input that might be deemed beneficial to the process.

PS - Your name and email address will never be sold, rented, or given away. You have my word on it!

Coaching - Twice a month coaching calls provide accountability and just-in-time learning with the leader to advance the action plan and develop the leadership competencies. This allows the leader to step into their most natural, effective leadership style. Included in this phase will be any necessary leadership curriculum required to increase the client's knowledge and overall effectiveness.

If your company is sponsoring the coaching, we will typically meet in person once a month in addition to coaching via phone during the month to stay on track.

Examples of areas I have supported other leaders have included:

  • Successfully transitioning into a new role.
  • Thinking strategically and finding more "out of the box" solutions.
  • Developing a vision for the organization that connects with and inspires people to extraordinary action.
  • Developing leadership at all levels. Coaching and developing others, giving feedback, and techniques for growing great people.
  • Delegation and keen awareness of the internal blocks that get in the way.
  • Creating cultures where people and teams think big, work together, have fun and take the risks necessary to grow great businesses.
  • Understanding potential blind spots in the leadership pipeline and how to avoid them.
  • Getting extraordinary results, and learning how to lead others to do the same.

Impromptu Calls - As needed.

Review and Forward Planning - The coaching concludes with a review of progress, and the design of any support structures the leader may require to keep the learning alive.

Typical coaching engagements are typically 6 months to one year, and are designed to ensure the meet the best possible outcomes for both the executive and the organization.

If you are engaged in the coaching process and use the proven principles in our work together, you can expect to see the following:

Through the use of personality assessment tools you will see your ‘hard wiring’ and you’ll have more conscious choice in your interactions with others. Clients say this is one of the most helpful pieces of the process. I do this in a way that’s fun and non-threatening because I truly understand that each person has a unique value that they bring. This will reduce a significant amount of frustration you may be experiencing with different personality types.

Crystal clear about your stand as a leader and how to effectively implement sustainable change in your organization.

See desirable and sustainable changes in your teams’ performance and productivity. People will participate more openly, conflict will be reduced significantly and results will come with a lot less struggle and effort.

Have smoother relationships and learn strategies that will enable you to further and strengthen your networks and allies. This will help position you for the next job you are pursuing in your company.

Comfortably ‘sell yourself’ without feeling like you’re bragging. This enables others your boss and others to understand your value and they will be sure to include you in important decisions.

Find people are more receptive to your ideas through your effective persuasion and influence skills that ‘speak to their listening’. You will learn how to authentically connect with others and you’ll notice less resistance on their part.

Clear vision and strategy of action steps you need to take in order to move into the next position you are seeking or to broaden your experience in order to flex with the ongoing changes in your industry so that you’re ready when the organization changes.

Make a bigger contribution. Gaining mastery in your interpersonal skills and more ease in navigating the politics will make it easier for you to bring your natural talents to the work that you do and make a difference.

What makes me unique?
I have been studying human behavior since I was 16 and I am a continual learner, stretching myself to reach higher levels of skill and deeper connections in all my relationships. The guidance I provide my clients comes from hands-on management experience and not just theory. I am always reading and learning and this allows me to stay on the cutting edge and be highly flexible and adapt to each client based on his or her needs. My experience as an organization development consultant enables me to see the ‘system’ that my client is working in and how to develop a strategy to be successful within this system. I completed a two-year rigorous coach training and certification program, which facilitates faster results for my clients.

To summarize, I bring a variety of personal and professional experiences to my coaching: my life-long natural curiosity and study of human behavior, line-management business experience, an understanding of systems and organization dynamics, and professional certification as a coach.
